Pneumatic cylinders with air recovery

The added value of BORELLI group fillers

CILINDRIAir recovery pneumatic cylinders have been introduced on BORELLI group fillers and monoblocks since 2005.

We have always maintained that the mechanical system in the lifting cylinder for a filler is not the most technically reliable solution.

It is no coincidence that the pneumatic cylinder is mainly used on isobarometric fillers and high-performance fillers.

With this conviction, already since 2005, we have equipped all our filling machines, from small rotary semiautomatic up to medium production machines, with air recovery pneumatic cylinders, abandoning the traditional mechanical spring cylinder technology for good.

Increased stroke and constant thrust. Less adjustment, more efficiency.

The advantages of this solution

1. In the pneumatic cylinder the thrust is constant over the entire stroke, whereas in the spring cylinder the thrust decreases progressively as the piston and thus the spring extends.

2. The result is to have the maximum mechanical effort during the descent phase and the minimum thrust at the end of the stroke, that is, just when it would be needed: during the valve opening phase.

3. The pneumatic cylinder maintains its constant thrust over the entire stroke, which results in optimum pressure on the valve during the working phase, and modest resistance during the mechanical descent phase on the cam.

In summary, working capacity is improved and wear and tear over time is limited.

Increased travel and constant thrust. Less adjustment, more efficiency.

Pneumatic technology makes it possible to build cylinders with a much longer stroke than conventional mechanical cylinders for the same total footprint.

Normally, a mechanical cylinder has just enough stroke to raise the bottle to the point where the valve opens.

This technical limitation necessitates varying the height of the bowl with every slight change in the height of the bottle.

The stroke of our cylinders is as much as 150 mm with constant pressure, and therefore requires varying the height of the bowl less frequently.

Referring to a level flush with the mouth of 70 mm, it is possible to keep the bowl height unchanged on bottles with height variations in the range of 0 / -40 mm.

This is undoubtedly an advantage for everyone in terms of time saved and becomes unavoidable for those who, using reclaimed bottles, work on glass with unequal heights.

Easily adaptable thrust

SpintaAn additional advantage is the ability to vary the cylinder pressure by simply adjusting the air inlet pressure in the circuit.

In this way the thrust is easily adapted to the type of valve mounted on the machine and the type of bottle used.

To vary the thrust of a mechanical spring cylinder, the only solution is to replace the spring, an impractical operation.

There is no wear and tear

usuraAnother notable advantage is the elimination of wear and tear.

Springs notoriously degrade with work, losing their original thrust.

This means that frequent maintenance is required to keep the machine efficient.

The pneumatic cylinder does not wear out and develops the same thrust over time regardless of the number of hours worked.

Maintenance is limited to the eventual replacement of the seal and only in the infrequent case of breakage.

Such replacement among other things is quick and easy and does not require the intervention of specialized technicians.

Our pneumatic cylinder is made entirely of stainless steel and the slides are on self-lubricating plastic material, so it is not subject to oxidation.

It can also work dry without any kind of problem, however, light support lubrication is recommended.
